False Ministry
Introduction Romans 1:16-32
There are many religions in the world and many faiths all claiming to be truth. Why is it that people believe what they do?, is it possible that there is more than one God? Christian, Catholic, Jew, Gentile, Hindu, Buddhist, Muslim and Satanism. We have Seven Day Adventist, Lutheran, Jehovah Witness, Mormon, Quakers etc. What is the Truth and what is the right church? All claim to be the work of God and not to believe their way is to be dammed. The question we need to ask ourselves is what we believe is it truth or a lie.
1. Gospel of Faith & righteousness (Romans 1:16-32)
· We need to first understand that we are servants of the Most High God, not ashamed
· One of the first rules of uncovering False Doctrine is that of confession (Luke 12:8-9)
· (1John 2:18-26) You must understand that Jesus is the Christ, otherwise your faith is in vain
a. If Jesus is Lord, then you will live a life after his will, we all know what that is Love, expound
· The Gospel is one of faith and obedience to be right in the eyes of God, it is his Kingdom
a. People that seek wealth and power on earth are not in tune with the Father's will
· What is the leading factor in your life serving Jesus or playing religion, look at me mentality
a. Who is God Jesus Christ (Heb 1:1-14) you must believe that otherwise there is no salvation for you
b. False doctrine tries to alienate this truth and guides us to another path, tradition, visions etc.
c. (Matt 27:50-54) At the cross and afterwards it is apparent that Jesus is the Son of God
d. (Acts 4:10-13) If your going to be saved there is no other name but Jesus Christ, The Savior
e. The crucifixion was no mistake, it was victory (John 3:10-21)
· To understand false doctrine you must first be grounded in sound doctrine, a firm foundation
· (Luke 4:1-4) This is where it all starts, you must believe the Word of God, the Bible
· It takes faith to believe in a book that is very controversial, there are many attacks on it
· This is contrary to leadership of today, now leaders what people to serve them
a. This is why you see government attack it by taking out of schools, courts and agencies
b. It's a personal faith, don't preach it to others, not God's will, are you ashamed?
c. False doctrine will not proclaim that Jesus is the only way, expound
2. Doctrinal Attacks Unrighteousness (vs. 18-32)
· False doctrine gives birth to sin and uncleanness, there is all sorts of compromise
· The reason for this is two fold, Jesus is not Lord and we set the rules
· people without a Lord have no guidance and allow their wicked minds to sin
· (vs. 21) Vain people they keep a form of Godliness but allow wicked imaginations to conquer them
a. In their disobedience God gives them over to their lust, they still believe they are right with God
b. 30 days aired a program took a Christian male heterosexual to a gay community and church, expound
c. Religions allow sin and it is seem as a good thing but not so in the Word of God.
- (Matt 7:15-23) God warns us of false doctrine, this has not change in the 21st century
- Sin is still a killer of souls and it makes no difference whether your religious or not
- False doctrine spell is that it gives people a false since of security in sin
- We are allowed our vices because we make the rule under cloak of religion
- God is no respecter of persons your sin will find you out (Col 3:22-23)
- The indicator is a change life without this your faith is in vain
- Our text tells us that people choose to be deceived and God allows it
- God will not violate your will, if you want to believe a lie then you will
- Ever wonder why the terrorist can kill in God's name and think there doing good
- The same reason why a Homo lives his life then thanks God for saving him, deceived
- Your profession in false doctrine will not get you into heaven but damnation
- If your unrighteous no religion will get you into heaven
3. Our Responsibility (Phil 2:12)
· We must search for truth thru Jesus Christ it is our duty as believers
(2 John 6-13) We are to walk in righteousness and shun those who preach otherwise
This issue that we are to be tolerant to different faiths is a demonic strategy
We are called a light to the world to expose sin and proclaim his righteousness (Matt 5:13-17)
False doctrine does not confess Jesus Christ but an alternative cloaked in religion
The religion does not necessarily have to be Christian but still is error
There is no other name and no other way Jesus is the way (John 14:6)
(2 Cor 11:13-15) The bible warns about false doctrine and ministers
Deceivers come as friends and spiritual guiders but if they don't acknowledge Jesus, wrong
You need to stop fooling yourself are you save or not
Do you really love God or is just a game you play, are you Holy?
You must be born again to enter into the Kingdom of God, are you?
It is your duty to find truth
The reason your hearing this message is because God brought you here
The pull is for your will, Jesus is the only way all other faiths are false
He is the creator not any other, different paths will lead to hell
The call today is to repent and ask Jesus in your heart.

Rom 1:16-32
16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto
salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.
17 For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it
is written, The just shall live by faith.
18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and
unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;
19 Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath
shewed it unto them.
20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly
seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and
Godhead; so that they are without excuse:
21 Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were
thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was
darkened.
22 Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,
23 And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to
corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things.
24 Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own
hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves:
25 Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the
creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.
26 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women
did change the natural use into that which is against nature:
27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in
their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and
receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.
28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them
over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;
29 Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness,
maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers,
30 Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil
things, disobedient to parents,
31 Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection,
implacable, unmerciful:
32 Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are
worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.
KJV
Luke 12:8-9
8 Also I say unto you, Whosoever shall confess me before men, him shall the Son
of man also confess before the angels of God:
9 But he that denieth me before men shall be denied before the angels of God.
KJV
Heb 1:1-14
1:1 God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the
fathers by the prophets,
2 Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir
of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;
3 Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person,
and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged
our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;
4 Being made so much better than the angels, as he hath by inheritance obtained
a more excellent name than they.
5 For unto which of the angels said he at any time, Thou art my Son, this day
have I begotten thee? And again, I will be to him a Father, and he shall be to
me a Son?
6 And again, when he bringeth in the firstbegotten into the world, he saith, And
let all the angels of God worship him.
7 And of the angels he saith, Who maketh his angels spirits, and his ministers a
flame of fire.
8 But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre
of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom.
9 Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; therefore God, even thy
God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.
10 And, Thou, Lord, in the beginning hast laid the foundation of the earth; and
the heavens are the works of thine hands:
11 They shall perish; but thou remainest; and they all shall wax old as doth a
garment;
12 And as a vesture shalt thou fold them up, and they shall be changed: but thou
art the same, and thy years shall not fail.
13 But to which of the angels said he at any time, Sit on my right hand, until I
make thine enemies thy footstool?
14 Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who
shall be heirs of salvation?
KJV
Matt 27:50-54
50 Jesus, when he had cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost.
51 And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the
bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent;
52 And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose,
53 And came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy
city, and appeared unto many.
54 Now when the centurion, and they that were with him, watching Jesus, saw the
earthquake, and those things that were done, they feared greatly, saying, Truly
this was the Son of God.
KJV
Acts 4:10-12
10 Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name
of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead,
even by him doth this man stand here before you whole.
11 This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become
the head of the corner.
12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under
heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.
KJV
Luke 4:1-4
4:1 And Jesus being full of the Holy Ghost returned from Jordan, and was led by
the Spirit into the wilderness,
2 Being forty days tempted of the devil. And in those days he did eat nothing:
and when they were ended, he afterward hungered.
3 And the devil said unto him, If thou be the Son of God, command this stone
that it be made bread.
4 And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by
bread alone, but by every word of God.
KJV
Col 3:22-25
22 Servants, obey in all things your masters according to the flesh; not with
eyeservice, as menpleasers; but in singleness of heart, fearing God:
23 And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;
24 Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for
ye serve the Lord Christ.
25 But he that doeth wrong shall receive for the wrong which he hath done: and
there is no respect of persons.
KJV
John 3:10-21
10 Jesus answered and said unto him, Art thou a master of Israel, and knowest
not these things?
11 Verily, verily, I say unto thee, We speak that we do know, and testify that
we have seen; and ye receive not our witness.
12 If I have told you earthly things, and ye believe not, how shall ye believe,
if I tell you of heavenly things?
13 And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven,
even the Son of man which is in heaven.
14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of
man be lifted up:
15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.
16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that
whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the
world through him might be saved.
18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is
condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten
Son of God.
19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men
loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light,
lest his deeds should be reproved.
21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made
manifest, that they are wrought in God.
KJV
1 John 2:18-26
18 Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist
shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the
last time.
19 They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us,
they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might
be made manifest that they were not all of us.
20 But ye have an unction from the Holy One, and ye know all things.
21 I have not written unto you because ye know not the truth, but because ye
know it, and that no lie is of the truth.
22 Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist,
that denieth the Father and the Son.
23 Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father: (but) he that
acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also.
24 Let that therefore abide in you, which ye have heard from the beginning. If
that which ye have heard from the beginning shall remain in you, ye also shall
continue in the Son, and in the Father.
25 And this is the promise that he hath promised us, even eternal life.
26 These things have I written unto you concerning them that seduce you.
KJV
Matt 7:15-23
15 Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly
they are ravening wolves.
16 Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs
of thistles?
17 Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree
bringeth forth evil fruit.
18 A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring
forth good fruit.
19 Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the
fire.
20 Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.
21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of
heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy
name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful
works?
23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that
work iniquity.
KJV
Phil 2:12
12 Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only,
but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and
trembling.
KJV
2 John 6-13
6 And this is love, that we walk after his commandments. This is the
commandment, That, as ye have heard from the beginning, ye should walk in it.
7 For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus
Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist.
8 Look to yourselves, that we lose not those things which we have wrought, but
that we receive a full reward.
9 Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not
God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the
Son.
10 If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into
your house, neither bid him God speed:
11 For he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds.
12 Having many things to write unto you, I would not write with paper and ink:
but I trust to come unto you, and speak face to face, that our joy may be full.
13 The children of thy elect sister greet thee. Amen.
KJV
Matt 5:13-17
13 Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith
shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and
to be trodden under foot of men.
14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.
15 Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a
candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.
16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and
glorify your Father which is in heaven.
17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come
to destroy, but to fulfil.
KJV
John 14:6
6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh
unto the Father, but by me.
KJV
2 Cor 11:13-15
13 For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into
the apostles of Christ.
14 And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.
15 Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the
ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.

What is false religion?
Are you distressed about crimes committed in the name of religion? Do the
warfare, terrorism, and corruption perpetrated by those who claim to serve God
offend your sense of justice? Why does religion seem to be at the root of so
many problems?
The fault lies, not with all religion, but with false religion. A widely
respected religious figure, Jesus Christ, indicated that false religion produces
bad works, just as a “rotten tree produces worthless fruit.” (Matthew 7:15-17)
What fruit does false religion yield?
False religion meddles in war and politics: “Across Asia and beyond,”
says the journal Asiaweek, “power hungry leaders are cynically manipulating
people’s religious sentiments for their own needs.” As a result, the journal
warns: “The world threatens to sink into madness.” A prominent religious leader
in the USA declared, “You’ve got to kill the terrorists before the killing
stops” His solution? “Blow them all away in the name of the Lord.” By contrast
the Bible says, “If any one makes the statement: ‘I love God,’ and yet is hating
his brother, he is a liar.” (1 John 4:20) Jesus even said: “Continue to love
your enemies.” (Matthew 5:44) How many religions can you think of whose members
engage in war?
False Religion spreads false doctrine: Most religions teach that the soul
or spirit is some invisible part of a human that survives the death of the
physical body. By means of this teaching, many of these religions exploit their
members, charging money to pray for departed souls. However, the Bible teaches a
different doctrine. “The soul that is sinning - it itself will die.” (Ezekiel
18:4) “The living are conscious that they will die; but as for the dead, they
are conscious of nothing at all.” (Ecclesiastes 9:5) Jesus taught that the dead
will be resurrected – an unnecessary action if humans had an immortal soul.
(John 11:11-25) Does your religion teach that the soul does not die?
False religion also tolerates immoral sex: In Western lands church groups
ordain gay and lesbian members of the clergy and urge governments to recognize
same sex marriages. Even churches that condemn immorality have tolerated
religious leaders who have sexually abused children. What, though, does the
Bible teach? It plainly states: “Do not be misled. Neither fornicators, nor
idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men kept for unnatural purposes, nor men who lie
with men …will inherit gods kingdom.”(1Corinthians 6:9, 10) Do you know of
religions that condone immoral sex?
What does the future hold for false religion that produces rotten fruit? Jesus
warned: “Every tree not producing fine fruit gets cut down and thrown into the
fire.” (Matthew 7:19) Yes false religion will be chopped down and destroyed! But
how and when will this happen? A prophetic vision recorded in the Bible book of
Revelation, chapters 17 and 18, provides the answers.
Characteristics of false religion:
1. Ceremonialism
Mr 7:4 And when they come from the market, except they wash, they eat
not. And many other things there be, which they have received to hold, as
the washing of cups, and pots, brasen vessels, and of tables.
Ac 15:10 Now therefore why tempt ye God, to put a yoke upon the neck of the
disciples, which neither our fathers nor we were able to bear?
Ga 4:9 But now, after that ye have known God, or rather are known of God, how
turn ye again to the weak and beggarly elements, whereunto ye desire again to be
in bondage?
Ga 5:1 ¶ Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free,
and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.
Col 2:20 Wherefore if ye be dead with Christ from the rudiments of the world,
why, as though living in the world, are ye subject to ordinances,
Heb 9:10 Which stood only in meats and drinks, and divers washings, and
carnal ordinances, imposed on them until the time of reformation.
a. Pharisaism (noun - from 'Pharisee', a
sanctimonious person, a hypocrite)
Mt 6:2 Therefore when thou doest thine alms, do not sound a
trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the
streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you, They have
their reward.
Mt 6:16 ¶ Moreover when ye fast, be not, as the hypocrites, of a sad
countenance: for they disfigure their faces, that they may appear unto men
to fast. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.
Mt 12:2 But when the Pharisees saw it, they said unto him, Behold,
thy disciples do that which is not lawful to do upon the sabbath day.
Mt 23:4 For they bind heavy burdens and grievous to be borne, and lay
them on men's shoulders; but they themselves will not move them
with one of their fingers.
Mt 23:13 ¶ But woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye shut
up the kingdom of heaven against men: for ye neither go in yourselves,
neither suffer ye them that are entering to go in.
Mt 23:23 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye pay tithe
of mint and anise and cummin, and have omitted the weightier matters
of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith: these ought ye to have done, and not
to leave the other undone.
Mt 23:27 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are like
unto whited sepulchres, which indeed appear beautiful outward, but are
within full of dead men's bones, and of all uncleanness.
Jas 1:26 If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his
tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man's religion is vain.
b. Self-righteousness
De 9:4 Speak not thou in thine heart, after that the LORD thy God hath
cast them out from before thee, saying, For my righteousness the LORD hath
brought me in to possess this land: but for the wickedness of these nations
the LORD doth drive them out from before thee.
Job 9:20 If I justify myself, mine own mouth shall condemn me: if I say,
I am perfect, it shall also prove me perverse.
Job 35:2 Thinkest thou this to be right, that thou saidst, My
righteousness is more than God's?
Pr 12:15 ¶ The way of a fool is right in his own eyes: but he that
hearkeneth unto counsel is wise.
Pr 16:2 ¶ All the ways of a man are clean in his own eyes; but the
LORD weigheth the spirits.
Pr 20:6 ¶ Most men will proclaim every one his own goodness: but a faithful
man who can find?
Pr 21:2 ¶ Every way of a man is right in his own eyes: but the LORD
pondereth the hearts.
Pr 30:12 There is a generation that are pure in their own
eyes, and yet is not washed from their filthiness.
Jer 2:35 Yet thou sayest, Because I am innocent, surely his anger shall turn
from me. Behold, I will plead with thee, because thou sayest, I have not
sinned.
2Co 10:12 ¶ For we dare not make ourselves of the number, or compare
ourselves with some that commend themselves: but they measuring themselves
by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise.
Re 3:17 Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have
need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and
poor, and blind, and naked:
2. False Profession
Ps 78:35 And they remembered that God was their rock, and the high
God their redeemer.
Ps 78:36 Nevertheless they did flatter him with their mouth, and they lied unto
him with their tongues.
Pr 26:23 ¶ Burning lips and a wicked heart are like a potsherd covered
with silver dross.
Isa 48:1 ¶ Hear ye this, O house of Jacob, which are called by the name of
Israel, and are come forth out of the waters of Judah, which swear by the name
of the LORD, and make mention of the God of Israel, but not in truth, nor
in righteousness.
Eze 33:31 And they come unto thee as the people cometh, and they sit before thee
as my people, and they hear thy words, but they will not do them: for
with their mouth they shew much love, but their heart goeth after their
covetousness.
Eze 33:32 And, lo, thou art unto them as a very lovely song of one that
hath a pleasant voice, and can play well on an instrument: for they hear thy
words, but they do them not.
Mt 7:21 ¶ Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the
kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
Mr 7:6 He answered and said unto them, Well hath Esaias prophesied of you
hypocrites, as it is written, This people honoureth me with their lips,
but their heart is far from me.
Lu 6:46 And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?
Tit 1:16 They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him,
being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate.
1Jo 3:18 My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in
deed and in truth.
3. Legalism
Mr 2:24 And the Pharisees said unto him, Behold, why do they on the sabbath
day that which is not lawful?
Lu 6:2 And certain of the Pharisees said unto them, Why do ye that which is not
lawful to do on the sabbath days?
Lu 13:14 And the ruler of the synagogue answered with indignation, because that
Jesus had healed on the sabbath day, and said unto the people, There are six
days in which men ought to work: in them therefore come and be healed, and not
on the sabbath day.
Joh 5:10 The Jews therefore said unto him that was cured, It is the sabbath day:
it is not lawful for thee to carry thy bed.
Ac 15:5 But there rose up certain of the sect of the Pharisees which believed,
saying, That it was needful to circumcise them, and to command them to
keep the law of Moses.
Ac 16:3 Him would Paul have to go forth with him; and took and circumcised him
because of the Jews which were in those quarters: for they knew all that his
father was a Greek.
Ac 21:20 And when they heard it, they glorified the Lord, and said unto
him, Thou seest, brother, how many thousands of Jews there are which believe;
and they are all zealous of the law:
Ac 22:3 ¶ I am verily a man which am a Jew, born in Tarsus, a city
in Cilicia, yet brought up in this city at the feet of Gamaliel, and
taught according to the perfect manner of the law of the fathers, and was
zealous toward God, as ye all are this day.
Ro 10:2 For I bear them record that they have a zeal of God, but not according
to knowledge.
Ga 1:14 And profited in the Jews' religion above many my equals in mine own
nation, being more exceedingly zealous of the traditions of my fathers.
Traditions of men
Mt 15:3 But he answered and said unto them, Why do ye also transgress
the commandment of God by your tradition?
Mr 7:8 For laying aside the commandment of God, ye hold the tradition of
men, as the washing of pots and cups: and many other such like things
ye do.
Col 2:8 Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit,
after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after
Christ.
Tit 1:14 Not giving heed to Jewish fables, and commandments of men, that
turn from the truth.
1Pe 1:18 Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible
things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received
by tradition from your fathers;
4. Sanctimony - its distinguishing marks
An Outward Show of Righteousness
Isa 58:2 Yet they seek me daily, and delight to know my ways, as a
nation that did righteousness, and forsook not the ordinance of their God:
they ask of me the ordinances of justice; they take delight in approaching
to God.
Pharisaic Separation
Isa 65:5 Which say, Stand by thyself, come not near to me; for I am
holier than thou. These are a smoke in my nose, a fire that burneth
all the day.
Assumed Innocence

Hypocrisy
